Within the scope of combating antimicrobial resistance - one of the most significant public health threats to human, animal, and environmental health globally - the National Action Plan to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance (2026–2030) has been published under the coordination of the Ministry of Health, in line with the One Health approach.

Within the framework of the National Action Plan, SUEN, in cooperation with relevant institutions, will serve as a responsible organization for key activities such as:

·        identifying environmental sources of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) risks,

·        assessing existing monitoring infrastructure and identifying high-risk sectors,

·        monitoring AMR bacteria and genes in wastewater and receiving environments, developing risk maps, and tracking their fate, and

·        evaluating the applicability of innovative advanced treatment technologies for the removal of AMR.
