18 April 2015 – The 7th World Water Forum, held under the main theme “Water for Our Future,” took place on 12–17 April 2015 in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, Republic of Korea. SUEN actively participated in the Forum, which consisted of thematic, political, regional, and science & technology processes.

Within the thematic process, SUEN co-organized Session 3.3.4 – “Sustainable Wastewater Management and Reuse” jointly with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The session was moderated by Dr. Aslıhan Kerç, SUEN’s Coordinator of Project Development and Implementation.

During the thematic session T.4.5.4 on special training for basin organizations, SUEN’s Administrative and Financial Affairs Coordinator Mustafa Sarıkaya took part as a panelist.

As part of the Forum’s regional process, SUEN President Prof.. Ahmet Mete Saatçi participated as a speaker in the session on transboundary water management in Europe, Asia, and Arab regions (INR.4.3.EU).

In the regional session INR.2.3.EU, which focused on water in the cities of the future, SUEN Expert Burcu Yazıcı delivered a presentation titled “Transition from Resource Management to Urban Water Management in Istanbul.”

Burcu Yazıcı also delivered a speech within the European regional discussions during the session INR.S&T.EU – “Linking Science and Technology for Managing Global Water Challenges.”

In the science and technology process, SUEN organized a session titled “Reuse of Treated Wastewater for Agricultural Irrigation and Irrigation Water Quality” in cooperation with the UNESCO International Hydrological Programme (UNESCO IHP). Dr. Aslıhan Kerç moderated the session, while Burcu Yazıcı delivered a presentation on “Selection of Treatment Processes for Agricultural Water Reuse.”

SUEN also held a side event titled “Water JPI: Upgrading Water Research and Innovation Activities from Regional to Cross-Regional Level” during the 7th World Water Forum.
