Within the framework of the subcommittee on Wastewater and Drinking Water established under the Permanent Joint Committee on Water between Türkiye and Iraq, a delegation consisting of representatives from the Iraqi Ministry of Municipalities and Public Works and the Baghdad Municipality participated in a technical cooperation and study visit program hosted by our Ministry between 15–18 December 2025, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of water and wastewater.
The program was carried out in cooperation with the ministry’s departments, namely the GD of Water Management, the GD of State Hydraulic Works, and the Turkish Water Institute (SUEN), and with the support of the Kocaeli Water and Sewerage Administration (ISU) and the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI). As part of the program, expert presentations were delivered on the planning and management of drinking water and wastewater systems, followed by technical visits to facilities operated by ISU and ISKI.
During the closing session of the program, held at SUEN, evaluations and discussions were conducted regarding potential areas for future cooperation.
